Although more and more people are getting vaccinated, on Tuesday, July 27, the CDC once again reversed course and changed its policies for fully-vaccinated individuals, recommending “fully vaccinated people to wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission,” which currently includes Hamilton, Bulter, and Warren counties. The CDC also recommends that teachers, staff, students, and visitors to schools wear masks regardless of vaccination status.
While vaccinations certainly help in reducing spread of COVID-19, the new mandate comes amidst further research about the new B.1.617.2 variant, also known as the Delta Variant, which has proven to be a more contagious and severe strain.
For now, even if you are fully vaccinated, keep those masks on.
